Back in those days when KL was still “wearing short pants”, there was this pasar besar that everybody has heard about but times have changed, and so have most of us.
Today, this heritage like structure is called the Central Market. It is the place to be for most tourists. It is where you can catch a glimpse of the multi-faceted cultural haven that is truly Malaysia.
I do enjoy my occasional forays into this place but like most locals, I don’t usually shop there, unless I find something being sold there that is unavailable anywhere else. But truth be told, Central Market has its own allure. It houses some very interesting shops with even more charming stuff that I can mention here.
Foreigners will fall in love with this place because they don’t have to walk for miles under the sweltering sun to find something “for the folks back home”. Afterall, if you are slugging around some unused Euros, the currency will be very much welcome within the premises.
It is a good place to bring a foreign friend or even to rest your tired feet if you happen to be in the vicinity.
