The ubiquitous pau has become part and breakfast parcel of Malaysian life. Not so long ago, it was the exclusive gastronomic delight of the Chinese community.

However, about 20 years ago, the other ethnic communities suddenly woke up to the fact that they too can concoct their own “pau”. And thus, pau kacang, pau kelapa and pau daging were born.

Today, the pau is found in all decent food shops. If you are not particular, you can easily fill your belly with this kind of food and it won’t puncture a big hole in your pocket.
