Charming local water containers August 30, 2006

What you see on the shelves are called the “buyong”. They are the popular water containers made from clay found in the Kuala Kangsar district.

Villagers have been using them for ages. The clay is porous but does not leak. Its special properties allow the water within to turn cool after a short while. Saves on electricity, you know.
