History of old St Anne’s Church February 20, 2007

This is the interior of the old St Anne’s Church. Historical records reveal that Chinese and Indian Catholics flourished in Province Wellesley as early as 1833.

The first clergymen who came to Penang were all Frenchmen. St Anne was apparently a popular saint among the French. Hence, the chapel then was dedicated to her name.
