Indoor rainforest for nature lovers June 7, 2007Posted by asianpixmen in Flora/Plants, Malaysia, Nature, Places.
Nowadays, it is the in-thing to have a spot of garden inside a modern complex, particularly a garden of sorts.
At one of Klang Valley’s hottest shopping centres, One Utama, there’s a rainforest, no less. It has more than 200 species of plants and trees. There’s no soil to speak of. It is charcoal. Soil, for a good reason, is not used because it can become compact after a while and will be difficult to replace.
The One Utama rainforest has been around for about three years. It is only now that it has become a show piece. There are several big aquariums containing some big fishes. You don’t have to journey all the way to Hong Kong or Melbourne to take a look at aquatic life.
The Rainforest is quite an achievement. There’s even a walkway that’s suspended about three floors above ground. It provides a great view of the surroundings and the Bandar Utama neighbourhood (part of it anyway).
It’s really something for the little kids to shout about.
