This kind of street vendor is a dying breed but there are a few left, strategically located in different parts of the city.

This stall sells hot milk, constantly on the boil, near the food court near Mydin Departmental Store in Masjid India area.

Hot cow’s milk with a small cup of jelly thrown in is worth RM1.80. Penang used to have a number of this kind of stalls about two decades ago. Lately, however, their numbers have shrunk. I reckon it’s due to poor sales and even lower public interest for this kind of “cuisine.”

I am one of the few who still frequent stalls like this. Nothing like a bit of the old world charm to jumpstart one’s journey down memory lane.
