Roast chicken, roast beef and roast lamb are common. But not so for roast ducks. Roast ducks have a selected clientele. Some people think of roast ducks as Peking Ducks. These people don’t know their ducks.
The roast duck has its different categories of superiority. Somewhere in Paramount Garden, PJ, there are at least two shops famous for their roast duck. You have to place your orders in advance to get your ration of roast ducks.
I have switched to roast ducks for Christmas since I found out that roast turkey has touched RM200 per bird. Ridiculous. Somehow the exaggerated price tag has spoilt the spirit of Christmas.
Anyway, this was where roast duck came into play. I ordered two. Each about RM40. I tell you, the turkey will turn cold in a very short time because the long queue at the duck shop indicated that ordinary folks are no fools.
Roast duck it is then. And make mine well done, just like roast beef!
