Batik prints reflect the vibrancy of a nation and its people April 13, 2008

Recently, an exposition of national proportions was held for 10 days at Warisan Kebudayaan in Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur. I half suspected few people knew about it because of the scant publicity.

Anyway, I was there and was totally in awe of the handicrafts that were on display. It made me proud to be a Malaysian. I was also fascinated by some of the beautiful batik materials available, like the above.

There are many skilled batik craftsmen in our midst. The fact that they don’t receive the kind of publicity that many of them deserve is a bit of a shame. Their works however are breathtaking.
