Most top spinning events are participated by the more senior men. At Warisan Kebudayaan about two months ago, a top spinner demonstrated the art of spinning a Malay top.

He wound the rope on the outer rim of the relatively flat top and then with a consideratble side-winding effort launched it sideways onto the floor.

The result of which saw the top being spun and landed on the floor with a thud and spinning its way for several minutes. In Kelantan, the top event is adjudged for how long the top can stay on its nail. Balance and length of the spin determine victory.
