Yew char kuey for morning and evening September 14, 2008

The Chinese call it “yew char kuey”. That’s actually in Hokkien. But to the rest of the society, it is almost a staple diet for morning and evening, and it goes mightily well with black coffee.

Yew char kuey has been around as long as I can remember. It is inexpensive and a rather popular item at pasar malam when it is fresh out of the wok. Hong Kong people eat this with porridge in the morning. I am not into that yet but I love it when I have nothing to do in front of the TV, except a hot teh tarik.

It is better than Munchies, that’s for sure!
