Goodbye to that chinatown shop October 5, 2008Posted by asianpixmen in Activities, Craft, Malaysia, Miscellaneous, People, Places.
For years, a number of Chinatown shoppers have been discreetly visiting and patronising this unassuming shoplot in Petaling Street which went by the name of “Little Chinatown.”
From the facade, it didn’t look like much but upon entering and through further inspection, one would be amazed by the range of items it sells. Actually, Little Chinatown deals in bulk sales but due to its regular walk-in customers, it also caters to the individual buyers.
Thus, a number of discerning shoppers, including yours truly, have been shopping on the quiet at this place. The selfish personal policy is “don’t tell anyone!” because otherwise, the items will be snapped up double-quick.
Because of its wholesale prices, items are usually about 60 per cent cheaper than in the ordinary retail shops. However all that came to an end at the end of August 2008 when Little Chinatown, due to strategic and financial considerations, decided to shift back to its Hq in Sungai Besi (where there’s no individual sales policy).
What a letdown! For me, especially but not to worry, I still have five cupboardfuls of “toys” and other stuff to play around with. Those will last me for at least two years.
